The couple met at a mutual friend's birthday party and it was "love at first sight."Thaddeus was so taken by Deanna that he asked her out on a date for the very next day. They went to the San Antonio Spurs basketball game, where Thaddeus had reserved court side seats. During the game, David Robinson, a former NBA Spurs basketball star, tapped Deanna on the shoulder. He pointed up to the large video screens situated throughout the arena. Deanna and Thaddeus had been selected to kiss for thousands of fans on the "kiss me cam". "We looked at each other, then back at the jumbotron, then back to each other and went for it," recalls Deanna. "It was definitely the most memorable first date ever!"
The first date led to a second date and so on. "We tend to balance each other out. I am quiet and he is a talker," says Deanna. "He's high strung and I am the calm one." As they say, opposites attract. Deanna and Thaddeus enjoy travelling, jogging, watching movies and going out to dinner. With so much in common, it's no wonder that they decided to share their lives together.
Je t'aime (I love you), were the spoken words if Deanna and Thaddeus as they spent a vacation in Paris. Commonly referred to as the City of Love, Paris has become a favorite destination for lovers. It's a wondrous getaway where couples enjoy historic monuments, museums, gardens and of course, the Eiffel Tower.
During their Paris holiday, Thaddeus took Deanna on a dinner cruise along the River Seine, known as the Don Juan cruise. The luxury yacht was beautifully decorated and they were treated to fine wines and cuisine. During an unforgettable dinner in an intimate atmosphere, Deanna and Thaddeus were able to enjoy the sights and beauty of Paris.
Thaddeus proposed as they were approaching the Eiffel tower and when they arrived it was all lit up! At first, Deanna was not sure that he was proposing. He started talking about relationships and the future and then Thaddeus said, "would you marry me?" Deanna responded by saying, "now… or in the future?" Then, he clarified by romantically gasping, "Yes will you marry me!" Then, that's when he pulled out the exquisite ring. Now, Deanna said, "Yes," of course. To this day, Thaddeus swears he said "will you marry me" but, Deanna says she heard "would".
Upon returning from their trip, the couple began their exciting wedding plans. On March 13, 2010 at 4:30 P.M., Deanna and Thaddeus shared their wedding vows. The ceremony was held on the outdoor lawn of the Hyatt Hill Country Resort in San Antonio. Large white wooden letters that spelled L-O-V-E were spread out for everyone to see. For a special touch, Deanna chose a thick bed of red rose petals to be placed down the aisle. They had a wooden arch adorned with hanging vines. This is the spot where the said their "I dos." At the end of the ceremony, the guests released beautiful butterflies of bright colors.
Then, a large line of red lantern candles led the way to the outdoor cocktail reception. Guests had the option of walking to the reception or riding in a golf cart. Upon arrival, guests enjoyed an open bar in a beautiful setting.
The wedding colors were white and pear green with splashes of bright red. The theme was butterflies. Not only were butterflies set free, but faux butterflies were fastened to the center pieces and wedding cake.
The attendants included two bridesmaids, two groomsmen, one junior bridesmaid and a ring bearer. The bridesmaids wore strapless pear green long dresses. The groomsmen matched by wearing pear green cummerbunds on their tuxedos. The ring bearer who is 8 years old, decided to wear a top hat and cane. Too cute!
Deanna's stunning wedding gown was designed by Priscilla of Boston. It was a strapless gown, with a beaded bodice and tulle skirt in a tulle rosettes princess style. She also wore a second dress at the reception from David's Bridal. This dress was a strapless taffeta. The front side was shorter and it gradually became longer in the back. Perfect for dancing!
The main reception was held in the Hyatt's wedding tent and was designed entirely by Goen South Weddings. Not only did the Goen South team come up with the magnificent design, they photographed, coordinated and provided the remarkable floral, décor, drapes and linens. It was spectacular! The ceiling was draped with white sheers, providing a soft intimate setting. The flowers were white orchids, generously displayed on the tables. For a nice contrast, other tables had green hydrangea mixed with red roses and white gladiolas.
Deanna's mother is Greek and they honored Greek traditions at the wedding including Greek music and an ouzo toast (a Gratian liquor). These traditions made the wedding extra-special for the bride's family. The band was Fletcher Goodman, a 10 piece band. The guests danced the night away.
The Hyatt catered the wedding. Filet and chicken with risotto was served for dinner. Sides included carrots, beets and asparagus. For dessert, they served delicious chocolate truffles. They also had a red velvet groom's cake shaped like the Ferrari that he owns.
As a parting gift, guests were given bottles of personalized D and T Arroyo's hot sauce. At the end of the night, the newlyweds drove off in a golf cart decorated as "just married." As they waved goodbye to their guests, they tried to capture the moment in their hearts. Deanna said that, "it seems like the wedding went by really quickly, even though the lead up seemed like forever."
After the wedding, the couple enjoyed a honeymoon at the Amanyara Resort and Spa and traveled throughout the Turks and Caicos Caribbean islands. This honeymoon spot a gorgeous place with vibrant coral reefs and private beaches. It was the perfect end to their romantic wedding. The couple now resides in Dallas where Deanna is a Registered Nurse and Thaddeus works for AT&T.
